Our story
Vive en el Aire is a three-room cabin in Termales, a community on Colombia’s Chocó Pacific coast that no road reaches. This is how it was made, and how it works.
01 · The place
Termales is a 35-minute boat ride from Nuquí. Behind it is the Chocó jungle, one of the most biodiverse forests on earth. In front, the Pacific, where humpback whales arrive between June and October. A stretch of coast like that, and no good place to stay.
02 · The cabin
The cabin was built by hand, with the community’s master builders, at the edge of the sea. It has three self-sufficient rooms, each with its own bathroom. First came the cabin, then the kitchen, then community internet, which arrived before the hot water. That’s still, more or less, the order of priorities.
03 · How it works
Vive en el Aire runs with the people of Termales. The guides who lead the jungle walks know it well. The boatmen grew up on these waters. The kitchen cooks whatever arrives that day: morning catch, local fruit. It’s a collaboration with the community, and what exists here belongs to it too.
